The Independent Electoral Commission wants judges to review the voter registration list before announcing the provisional number of voters.
The Commission’s chairman Alhaji Momar Njai revealed that he would make a request to the Ministry of Justice next week to appoint judges to preside over the revising courts.
Mr Njai said the setting up of the temporary revising courts is standard procedure in order to “check the list and see whether there are people who have registered more than once”.
He added that there will one revising court for each of the seven regions of The Gambia.
The revising courts will seat for 60 days to hear and decide appeals against the voter list.
