India’s president, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, will pay a state visit to The Gambia on Wednesday July 31.
The state visit is the first ever visit by an Indian leader to The Gambia.
During the visit to The Gambia, President Kovind will hold talks with President Adama Barrow at the State House in Banjul.
As a special gesture of The Gambia Government, the National Assembly, which is currently in recess, will hold a special session for the address of President Kovind on the same day.
The National Assembly Building Complex in Banjul is one of the prominent projects in West Africa that was built on a loan by India.
President Adama Barrow will be hosting a Banquet in honour of President Kovind.
The other itineraries of the visit include the inauguration of exhibitions on Mahatma Gandhi and Khadi, and a reception with the Indian community in Gambia.
The Indian President is expected to depart Banjul for Guinea (Conakry) on August 1.
The India’s president state visits to the west Africa subregion is intended to deepen bilateral relations and he will be visiting Benin, The Gambia and Guinea (Conakry).
