He emphasised the incredible potential of the court, stating, “If this court is utilised to its fullest, we could see the emergence of international players right from our backyard”.

“This is not just a personal milestone, but a dream come true for all the students who will take advantage of this incredible resource. With proper usage, this court can help develop numerous international athletes for the region and The Gambia,”Felix enthusiastically declared.

Lamin A. Jammeh, First Vice President of The Gambia Volleyball Federation, also took the stage to express his heartfelt gratitude to the sponsors, underscoring the importance of the new court for the local volleyball scene.

He said: “Having a Beach Volleyball Court here in Brikama has been a long-held dream. Brikama has always been a beacon of hope for volleyball, and now, with this facility, we finally have the opportunity to nurture our local talent without the long trek to the beach.”

Jammeh added: “Players will face fewer challenges, especially financial ones, as this court will be right in our neighborhood, making training more accessible for all.”

The opening ceremony also featured speeches from other notable attendees, including Buba Saidy, Desk Officer of Sports at the Region West Education Directorate, and Buba Gaye, Head of the Sports Department at Jamisa Upper and Senior Secondary School, who highlighted the significance of this new Beach Volleyball Court.
