Yahya Jammeh

Former president Yahya Jammeh has urged Gambians to unite and vote for Mama Kandeh to end the country’s suffering.

Jammeh was speaking via telephone from his base in Equatorial Guinea during a GDC-APRC-GAP rally in Farafenni.

The former president said he will continue to defend The Gambia’s progress and development.

“I know you are suffering and I feel sorry for what is happening to my youth, children and women for the past four  years.

“I urged you all to support and vote for Mama Kandeh because I am sure when he wins, we would work together and any other party or person that is ready to see the development of this country can join us. Just to see you all forget the suffering after one year,” Jammeh told the rally.

The former military officer ruled The Gambia for 22 years with an iron fist and has been accused of gross human rights violations.

Meanwhile, Ebrima Jawo a resident of Farafenni described Jammeh as a capable leader saying “Jammeh is the kind of leader that can control this country’s welfare without fear.”

Sunkaru Ceesay also said: “Jammeh has been empowering the rural women with gardening. Farming fertilizers and we are forever grateful and we need him back.”
