The mayor of Kanifing Municipal Council has held a meeting with alkalos (traditional chiefs) amid growing dispute over alkaloship posts.
Mayor Ahmed Talib Bensouda urged the the traditional rulers to nurture peace and unity for the development of their communities.
“You should continue promoting unity, stability and development within your communities and your constitutional obligation to remain apolitical as the best way to deal function effectively and retain the trust of their communities,” he told them.
The group of alkalolus asked Mayor Bensouda to maintain routine meetings in order to get updates on the challenges affecting their communities.
Mayor Bensouda has faced three disputes over alkaloship which began in Abuko , then Bakau and now Latrikunda German.
