The Kanifing Municipal Council (KMC) has posted a strong financial performance for 2025 after generating a total revenue of D260 million, marking a significant boost in local revenue mobilisation.

The figure reflects sustained efforts by the council to tighten internal revenue systems, improve administrative efficiency, and enhance compliance among ratepayers and businesses operating within the municipality.

Officials said the improved performance is already positioning the council to better meet its service delivery obligations.

The revenue growth is expected to support critical development priorities, including road and drainage works, improved sanitation services, and community-based projects aimed at improving the quality of life for residents in Kanifing.

Local governance observers note that the D260 million milestone points to increasing public confidence in the council’s management and accountability mechanisms, as well as a more cooperative relationship between KMC and taxpayers.

KMC has reiterated its commitment to transparency and prudent financial management, assuring residents that the funds collected will be used responsibly and channelled into projects with visible and lasting impact.

The council said the 2025 performance provides a solid foundation for future growth as it continues to pursue sustainable urban development and stronger local governance within the municipality.
