Mai Ahmed Fatty, leader of the Gambia Moral Congress and an alliance partner of the ruling National People’s Party, has criticised the United Democratic Party (UDP), asserting that the opposition has no political base in Wuli and has contributed little to the country’s development.

Addressing supporters during the President’s Mee-The-People’s Tour in Wuli, Fatty said the people of Wuli remain firmly aligned with President Adama Barrow because they have seen concrete progress under his administration.

He challenged the UDP to identify any significant development they have brought to the country.

Fatty highlighted that President Barrow’s government has expanded hospitals, constructed new schools, and electrified communities, initiatives he said the opposition cannot match.

He argued that the president’s record in health, education, and rural electrification demonstrates real, measurable impact across the country.

He accused the UDP of promoting what he described as misleading narratives aimed at undermining the government’s achievements, adding that Gambians are increasingly aware of the difference between genuine development and political rhetoric.

According to Fatty, the opposition’s message is “rooted in negativity” and offers no practical alternatives for national progress.

He insisted that voters, especially in Wuli, know who is delivering results on the ground.

For Fatty and other NPP allies, Wuli remains proof that the president’s development-driven approach still resonates strongly with communities across the country.
