A nominated member of the National Assembly Majanko Samusa has accused United Democratic Party’s lawmaker for Central Baddibu of assualt.
Mr Samusa has been accused by supporters of the United Democratic Party of an attempt to transport illegal voters from Senegal to cast votes in Saturday’s parliamentary elections.
However, Majanko dismissed the allegation saying that those incoming voters were Gambians with valid voter cards residing in to border villages in Senegal.
“Those people are Gambians marrying at Palen Paul who were coming to cast their votes when some UDP youths from Saba some of whom are my nephews came to stop about 25 people from coming to cast their votes. And I went to talk to them and they listened to me.
“I later proceeded to Kerr Pateh army post to report the case that some UDP people are stopping some Gambians from coming to vote and that he (the army commander) should help send his men to help avoid alarming problem as their was no police,” he explained.
“But as I was talking to the army commander, the MP’s brother Buba Saho came with four people in his car. Soon also I saw the MP Sulayman Saho came with about 11 people in his car. But as I approached to greet him, he scolded me. I didn’t expect that [reaction] from him.
“Then they started to attack me and beat me and one of them hit me with a shoe on my eyes and they started to pelt stones and the army commander saved me and they put me in one of their houses,” he added.
However, Sulayman Saho could not be reached for comment about Mr Majanko’s accusation.
