Mama Kandeh, the leader of the Gambia Democratic Congress (GDC), has launched a scathing critique of President Adama Barrow’s government, accusing the administration of failing to address the pressing needs of Gambians since taking office in 2017.
Kandeh, a vocal opponent of Barrow’s leadership, made his comments in a recent interview with Eye Africa, where he did not hold back in expressing his disappointment with the current administration. The GDC leader said that Barrow’s government has fallen short on multiple fronts.
“This Adama Barrow’s government has failed,” Kandeh said, highlighting the widespread suffering in the country. “Everybody is suffering in this country,” he added, stressing that the government has not lived up to the expectations of its citizens.
Kandeh also criticised Barrow for what he described as “partisan leadership”, pointing out that the president seemed to prioritise the interests of his political party, the National People’s Party (NPP), over those of the entire nation.
“He should know that he’s the president of the Gambia and not just the NPP alone. He cannot stand in front of everyone and say that if you’re not a member of the NPP, you will not benefit from his projects,” Kandeh added.
