Medina United seized the moment and soared to the pinnacle of the Gambia Football Federation Division Two League table with a commanding 2-0 victory over Serekunda Football Club in a mouth-watering encounter at the Late Ousman Saho Memorial Football Field in Yundum.
The triumph was fuelled by standout performances from Musa Sarjo and Dominic Boissey, who found the back of the net in a match that proved Medina’s title credentials.
Elite United FC, who faced a disappointing setback the previous day, stumbled to a surprising 2-1 defeat against Serekunda United, paving the way for Medina’s ascendancy. With their rivals faltering, Medina United wasted no time in asserting their dominance. Musa Sarjo ignited the scoreboard in the 11th minute, setting the tone for a high-stakes contest.
Dominic Boissey, not to be outdone, delivered a spectacular finish in the 61st minute, sealing the win and sending Serekunda FC further into the depths of struggle.
With this victory, Medina United now stands at the top of the GFF Division Two table, amassing 21 points from 10 matches. Meanwhile, Elite United FC trails closely in second place with 19 points. The plot thickens as Samger Football Club can secure the second spot to leapfrog Elite United with a victory over Colley Star FC.
