The Gambia’s minister of lands and religion, Sheriff Abba Sanyang, has urged Gambians to put their political differences aside for national development.
Speaking at a meeting with regional authorities at the governor’s office, Kerewan, North Bank Region, Mr Sanyang said: “Let’s put our political differences aside and work towards national development.”
The commitment towards development should be “unanimous despite the differences”, according to Mr Sanyang.
Meanwhile, he said only the nation’s president has the sole right to appoint governors and they are the representatives of the president in the regions.
He added that it is the mandate of the governors to oversee all activities of area councils and other local authorities in the regions.
