Supporters of President Barrow’s National People’s Party yesterday stormed the party’s branch in Churchill’s Town to cheer the dramatic U-turn of Abdou Willan from rival United Democratic Party.
Mr Willan, who ditched the United Democratic Party ten days ago, told the gathering his mission was to ‘research and get information’ which he claimed has been successful.
“I was only there for research and I have returned with a lot of information,” Willan said at a meeting held at NPP’s office in Churchill’s Town.
In what looked like a very exciting celebration saw the presence of lawmakers showing support to the Gambian leader among them MP Saikouba Marong and senior officials of the NPP.
NPP supporters could be seen in a video shared on the party’s Facebook page, clapping and cheering Mr Willan for his dramatic U-turn.
“He cannot be taken from us, he is a true supporter of Adama Barrow and now we are going for 15 years,” one of the speakers could be heard shouting, as they praised Mr Willan for what they described as “his true and brave decision”.
