Police have arrested 23 people for criminal offences including handling stolen goods and possession of dangerous weapons.
The suspects were arrested after police raided the Serekunda market and other crime hotspots in the Greater Banjul Area
Police said the Anti-Crime Unit initially arrested 108 people during the raids.
After screening the suspects, 85 were released and 23 taken to custody after being found with suspected stolen properties including 207 mobile phones and some huge amount of cash in Gambian dalasi.
Meanwhile police said eight boys were arrested in Manjai Kunda around the bridge, six of them were found with knives in their possessions.
In Bakoteh Old Tipper Garage, another suspect was arrested with a pair of scissors and 38 wraps of suspected cannabis.
