Police revealed that six members of a robbery gang who attacked and wreaked havoc on residents of Brufut Heights have been arrested. 

The suspected robbers allegedly launched their break in with cutlasses and knives, injuring some of their victims and stealing huge amount of money and valuable materials like mobile phones.

After the robbery, officers of the Police Anti-Crime Unit swiftly launched a manhunt leading to the arrest of the gang members with their weapons.

Speaking at a news conference today, Police Anti Crime unit chief, commissioner Momodou Sowe, said the gang members were armed with dangerous weapons like cutlasses and knives.

“They attacked the residence of Abdul Lamin and Mbakey Sowe in Brufut Heights, resulting in significant property loss and in the process stabbed watchman of Mbakey Sowe named Morro Ceesay who is currently admitted at Kanifing General Hospital for medical treatment.

“The gang members ransacked Abdul Lamin’s residence and do away with his Techno Pop 5 mobile phone worth D5000.00, a Solar light worth D1000.00, two wrist watches Mark Cartis and Seiko worth 40 dollars each, and D30,000.00 that was in his black bag were all forcefully taken away and in the process he was injured on his left hand,” he said.

He added that the perpetrators further went to Mbakey Sowe’s residence and jointly assaulted and stabbed the watchman Morro Ceesay on the left side of his ribs and made their way into the house but no valuables were taken while adding that: “Muhammed Sowe alias DESSEH was arrested, and he provided information that his accomplices were lodged at SKYS APARTMENT in Bijilo.”

He said the investigators later raided the apartment and arrested the following suspects: Assan Sowe alias Sessco, Sheriff Dibba alias C’ Boy, Ousman Ceesay alias OC, Ousman Fatajo, and Ida Faal in room “G”. 

A search was conducted and three cutlasses and a crowbar wrap in brown papers were discovered, and the CSI team picked it for further analysis.
