President Adama Barrow has concluded his week-long provincial tour with an inspection of the newly constructed 93-kilometre road in the eastern part of the Lower River Region (LRR), known as the Kabada stretch, and the inauguration of two health posts in the area.

The road project is expected to improve access to communities in the Kabada area, which have faced longstanding challenges with road connectivity and access to public services.

Speaking during the tour, President Barrow said the communities had contributed to national development through taxation but had seen limited infrastructure investment over the years.

“They have waited for so long. They were paying their taxes but saw no reward. But now, it is their time,” he said.

In Kiang Geneiri, Barrow also visited a ROOTS Project site where previously unused land has been developed into a rice-producing area equipped with an irrigation system.

The project includes a runway and improved road access intended to facilitate the movement of agricultural produce. Plans also include establishing a women’s garden to support vegetable production during the dry season.

According to information presented during the tour, the project is expected to benefit more than 600 people across 70 households.

The President thanked government institutions and other stakeholders involved in the implementation of the Kabada road project, which he said was completed within a reasonable timeframe.
