In a turn of events, the Queen’s coach gaffer Mariama Bom Sowe has made a U-turn to call up midfield maestro Mbassy Darboe for The Gambia’s upcoming Women’s Africa Cup Of Nations qualifiers against Niger in Niamey after being initially left out of the squad.
Mbassy Darboe ply her trade with the Liberian giants, Determine Girls FC, scoring a whopping 7 goals and providing 10 assists this season. Despite Mbassy’s staggering numbers, she did not receive a call-up from coach Mariama Bom Sowe initially but Determine Girls FC confirmed hours ago that they received a request for the dazzling midfielder to join the Queen’s Scorpions.
“Additional request have been made for the Gambian sensational midfielder Mbassey Darboe for the forthcoming AFCON Qualifications matches scheduled to begin from February 18 to February 24, 2025 in Niger and Senegal respectively.” Determine Girls FC wrote on their Facebook page.
