Rapper Killa Ace

Gambian rapper and activist, Killa Ace, and twelve others, who were arrested in connection with last month Serekunda riots, have been granted bail after a huge public outcry.

The rapper and his associates were arrested on Saturday after police accused them of being the ringleaders of last months after a Serekunda market vendor, Ousman Darboe, a Sierra Leonean national, died after an alleged incident involving the police.

They were detained at the Brusubi Police Station.

The protesters were accused of damaging properties including the arson attack on the house of a police commander, Gorgi Mboob, in Ebo Town.

However police have not disclosed the reason for their arrests.

Killa Ace, whose real name is Ali Cham, is a well known social activist who have had several run-ins with the authorities due to his political campaigns.

He was forced into exile during the Jammeh regime for criticising the former president Yahya Jammeh.
