Many people have been reported injured during communal clashes in Waliba Kunda and Perai Tenda, Upper River Region on Sunday.
According to reports youths from the two villages armed with machetes, axes and knives fought each other over a land dispute which is before the courts.
Perai Tenda villagers claim the disputed land has been in their ownership for over 400 years.
Police were deployed to the villages to quell the crisis and restore peace.
“The police deployed officers on the ground to put an end to the violence and maintain the peace,” Police spokesman Superintendent Lamin Njie told The Fatu Network.
“We continue to advice the communities to exercise restraint while the courts deal with the issues surrounding the land dispute.”
