The Gambia Supreme Court is hearing a landmark case against the Clerk of the National Assembly and Minister of Finance over the D54 million loan scheme for lawmakers.

On Tuesday, the court presided over by Chief Justice Hassan B. Jallow heard oral arguments in a case brought by civil society organisations Gam Participates and the Centre for Research and Policy Development.

The court will also review the motion seeking to stop the defendants from having to disburse or use the D54 million loan for members of the National Assembly.

The hearing was adjourned to January 26 for all the parties to file in all the necessary documents to the court.
