US-based Gambian journalist Lamin Njie has criticised Mayor Talib Bensouda’s recent address, describing it as “a complete disaster.”
He told Gambiana that while some had complained about President Barrow’s speech, the mayor’s address was far worse.
“The mayor’s speech almost put me to sleep. It was a complete disaster,” Njie said.
Njie explained that the bigger issue lay with the mayor’s advisers.
“His strategists must have told him it was a really good address. If I were his specialist strategist, that address would never have come out. I would have spent the whole day perfecting it,” he added.

The journalist warned that leaders must be cautious when surrounded by people who offer only praise.
“You should be worried when Gambians tell you something is good when it’s actually not. But then, as President Barrow has said, it’s not easy like that deh,” he said.
