Fatou Samba, the Country Coordinator of Gambian Talents Promotion, has been laid to rest at the Latrikunda German Cemetery following her sudden passing on Saturday.

The cause of her death remains unknown.

Hundreds of mourners from all walks of life, including journalists, government officials, opposition politicians, and members of the public, gathered to pay their final respects to a woman widely regarded as a towering figure in Gambian media.

Fatou Samba is remembered for her tireless work in journalism and youth empowerment. Colleagues described her as humble, kind, professional, and deeply committed to her mission of nurturing young talent across the country.

Among the mourners was the Minister of Information, Dr. Ismaila Ceesay, who led the government delegation. He praised the late media professional as a “master of her work” and “down-to-earth,” noting her generous spirit and her role in mentoring dozens of aspiring journalists.

“She was very humble and kind,” Dr. Ceesay said.

“She trained dozens of young people in journalism and carried out her duties with utmost professionalism.”

Dr. Ceesay called on Gambians to live purposefully and strive to leave behind a positive legacy, as Fatou Samba had done.

Ustass Momodou Lamin Khan Almamsouri, speaking on behalf of Gambian Talents Promotion, described her as a pleasant and reliable figure who was easy to work with.

“I worked with her for five years, and there wasn’t a single day she changed her demeanor. That consistency showed what a good person she truly was,” he said.

He urged mourners to reflect on the meaning of life and to follow the example Fatou set by dedicating oneself to serving humanity and God.
