Two journalists have reportedly been arrested by police while covering a protest organised by the Gambians Against Looted Assets (GALA) in Banjul.

The journalists include Alieu Ceesay, a reporter for The Alkamba Times, and a second journalist from Choice FM, whose identity has not yet been confirmed.

Police also arrested several GALA leaders who had gathered to protest the government’s handling of former President Yahya Jammeh’s assets. The protest was staged despite a police decision to deny the group a permit earlier this week.

GALA had planned a peaceful demonstration to demand full transparency and accountability in the sale of Jammeh’s confiscated properties. Their demands include the release of a complete list of buyers involved in the controversial asset sales.

This is a developing story. Gambiana will provide further updates as more details become available.
