The Vision Development Foundation (VDF), under the leadership of its chief executive officer, Momodou Turo Darboe, has maintained its annual tradition of providing humanitarian aid during Ramadan to needy communities and organisations across The Gambia.

This initiative reflects VDF’s commitment to fulfilling religious obligations and supporting vulnerable populations during the holy month.

The donations included essential items such as sugar, rice, milk, dates, bread, and cash. Thousands of bags of sugar were distributed to various communities, including Muslim and Christian groups, political parties, disabled organisations, and remote areas; as well institutions like TANGO, security services, the Gambia Pastoral Institute, Christian Council, Murid brotherhoods, Islamic Education Institutions and the Supreme Islamic Council (SIC).

VDF also provided brown sugar for diabetes patients this year.

Saihou Fofana, VDF’s communication director said they invited representatives from political parties and community organisations to ensure broad inclusivity and avoid discrimination. He added that this approach acknowledges the role of politicians in reaching their followers who may need support during Ramadan.

Community leaders expressed gratitude for VDF’s efforts.
