At least 25 Gambian migrants deported from Germany have arrived in Banjul on Friday morning.

Migrants activists have condemned the deportation and expressed disappointment over the Gambia government’s silence on the issue.

Yaya Sonko, German-based Gambian refugee rights activist, described the group’s deportation as “very sad”.

“They arrived as early as 2am this morning. It’s very sad but they arrived safely home,”

Sonko told Gambiana exclusively.

Meanwhile, Musa Camara, director of diaspora and migration affairs at the ministry of foreign affairs had confirmed the deportation of the 25 Gambians, insisting that the government has a responsibility to accept the deportees.
