A 55-year-old woman who was receiving coronavirus treatment at the Medical Research Council in Fajara has died of the virus taking the country’s death toll to 122.

The unnamed woman was reported to have underlying health problems. 

The Gambia has been experiencing a sharp rise in coronavirus infections with many raising concern that the country is heading to a second wave of the pandemic.

This is happening as the government has eased all restrictions put in place to stop the spread of the virus and an indifferent public that abandoned wearing face masks. 

There is so far few deaths from coronavirus in the past weeks.
