General Alhagie Martin has described allegations against him as ‘very big lies’.
The Army General denied all allegations of serious and gross human rights violations levelled against him during his testimony before the Truth Reconciliation and Reparations Commission (TRRC) on Thursday.
However, several witnesses including former deputy Inspector general of police, Ibrima Chogan and other senior retired army officers Sana Sabally, RSM Jeng, Abdoulie Darboe had told the Commission that Martin and his team used hammer and other tools to “torture” them during their detention at the notorious Mile Two Prison.
However General Martin refuted the allegations against him, describing them as “very big lie”.
“They are lying… that is a very big lie,” he said.
He said it was not only his team that was interrogating the detainees at Mile Two but added that there were two other groups led by the late Musa Jammeh and Almamo Manneh.
General Martin was a close aide and protection officer of former President Yahya Jammeh.
The TRRC sitting continues.
