The Point Newspaper has been crowned champions of the Inter-media tournament on Thursday.

Point Newspaper edged the Standard Newspaper by 2-1 at the Independent Stadium.

The thrilling final brought together media practitioners – including veteran and young journalists alike.

Demba Ali Jawo, former minister of Information and President of Gambia Press Union took the kickoff.

Meanwhile, both team showcase a magnificent playing style.

And Standard Newspaper was quick to take an early lead in the 7 minutes of play.

But Point Newspaper fought back shortly to level the scoreline.

After the half time break, Point Newspaper quickly smashed another doubling their lead which they maintained until the final whistle was blown. The game ended in a 2-1 victory for the Point Newspaper.

This Inter-media tournament was the first of its kind in the media history of the country and journalists hoped the championship would continued.

It was aimed to promote and strengthen cordial relationship among journalists in the country.
