The anti-Barrow political organisation, Three Years Jotna, will stage their much talked about protest against President Adama Barrow today.
The group is seeking to force the president out of office through a peaceful protest. It says the president should honour his 2016 election promises of serving for three years and resign so a fresh election could be held.
“I want to urge The Gambian youths to stop sleeping and look critically at the tactics being employed by President Barrow in trying to hold on to power. If we (youths) allow this game to happen in this country, it is going to be the beginning of another dictatorship in the country”, Abdou Njie, the group chairman said in a recent press conference.
The organisation has been granted permit by the police and their protest procession route will be from Westfield to Banjul.
Many are worried about the implications of the protest and feared that it could trigger a civil disobedience in a country that is still healing from a post-Jammeh dictatorship.
However the group has assured that the protest will be “peaceful”.
