Gambian leader Adama Barrow on Sunday announced his government action in relieving retail business community off tax return for 2019 to second quarter of 2020.
According to him, the move is aimed at easing the challenge of Covid-19 coronavirus on business community.
President Barrow was addressing the nation as thousands of bags of rice and sugar piled at MaCcarty Square in Banjul to be distributed to Gambian households as Covid-19 relief support.
“About 200,000 people are engaged in retail and service sector – to support this important business sector, the tax return for 2019 has been differed from the first quarter of 2020 to the second quarter,” he said in his address to nation.
The president said his government is in review process of supporting small and medium scale enterprises amid coronavirus pandemic.
