The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) on Wednesday announced the dates for the upcoming presidential election and referendum.

According to the IEC, June 5, 2021 is the date for the referendum on The Gambia’s new draft constitution.

December 4, 2021 is the date for the presidential election. The nominations days for presidential candidates will be for a week from October 30 to November 5, 2021 and presidential campaign is scheduled between November 9 and December 2, 2021. 

The IEC also announced that the voter registration period starts on January 14 and ends on February 26, 2021.
