Hundreds of people have voluntarily gone to be tested for coronavirus at the ‘Ndemband’ clinic in Bakau.
The mass testing comes as the country sees a spike in the number of coronavirus cases with over 200 infected and six deaths.
A man who went on Monday for testing said: “I went to test myself because I was with one of the people who tested positive just recently.
“I came into contact with him a little bit and that’s why I went for them to test me for the disease.”
But he said the process is slow because there are only three health workers assigned to conduct the testing on the mass group of people.
He added: “One is doing the recording; one is doing the testing and the other one is doing another official duty which is making the process very slow.
“I heard from one person on the testing spot saying ‘about forty health workers are currently infected by the disease that’s why they have few health officials doing the testing”.
He claimed to have spent almost three hours waiting to be tested.
“I waited for more than 2hours because there are many people on the lane and only three health officials are present testing people.
“We were taken from Ndemband clinic in Bakau to Taban clinic in Kololi and some were brought back again.
“I heard a health official saying close the door and tell anyone who comes to go until tomorrow,” he added.
He urged people to go for the testing to know their Covid-19 status, adding “because you might not know with whom you have come in contact with.”
