A 21-year-old driver, who ran over and killed three people while racing with others along the Senegambia highway, has been fined D11,000 and banned from driving for five years.
Abdoulie Gaye was charged with three counts of dangerous and reckless driving. The Kanifing Magistrate Court convicted him on all counts and fined him instead of a custodial sentence.
He was also ordered to pay a compensation of D50,000 to each of the deceased families.
The fatal accident happened last Saturday in the early hours of the morning between Senegambia and Kotu highway.
