Banjul City Council has received 500 facemasks from Modou Musa Njai, a resident of Halfdie, to help contain the spread of coronavirus in the city.

Mr Njai’s donation comes after the city launched an initiative dubbed “Operation 100k Face masks”.

Mayor Rohey Lowe has been calling for support and total lockdown of the city since the country’s coronavirus cases started to rise.

The Council also received hospital materials (wheelchairs, crutches, bed sheets, pillow cases and chairs) from Ceesay’s Charity Foundation under the leadership of Mrs Ceesay Manneh Joseph, a Gambian based in the U.K.

The deputy Mayor of Banjul on behalf of the Mayor and team, thanked the donors for their timely support. He further urged others to emulate them.
