The Gambia has seen a spike in coronavirus cases after a brief decline on Friday as 148 people test positive for the virus over the weekend.
The Ministry of Health data has shown that at least 2,685 people have contracted coronavirus from March to date.
“148 new cases registered, taking the total number of COVID-19 cases ever confirmed in the country to 2,685,” the Ministry of Health said on Sunday.
“This represents a 31% test positivity rate (148 out of 483 total tests performed).
“The median age of the new cases is 37 years (range: 6 to 104 years),”
The total number of the coronavirus deaths has risen to 87 after three people died including two Covid-19 patients who were receiving medical care at the treatment centre.
