I am shocked, ossified, and saddened by the passing of  Mr. George F. Gomez in the prime of his retirement in public life and into his power of mentoring to dozens of aspiring leaders, journalists, sports administrators, and thinkers in addition to theorist to youth leadership development.

George F. Gomez, I agreed.

In his life (and death), the wise must have learned how old age and wealth count very little in calculating success. Within decades of short years in public life and in humanity’s service, George Gomez ran the race of life and came tops. He won.

The only wealth he had was his genius generously spiced with the right dose of diligence, resilience, and patriotism.

Moreover, this gave him what mountains of dalasi and dollar bills have refused to give our big men and women whose lives are defined solely by how much of tomorrow’s money they steal today.

George F. Gomez lived a life of passion and hard work, and godliness.

Mr. Gomez’s life was a saga of triumph against challenging odds creating success with courage and heart.

Strands of humility, kindness, and agility constituted his leadership, mentorship, and affable personality that he was everyone’s favourite, and his audacity was admirable.

George was a gentle soul and a brilliant public policy administrator and a leader. George was not a transactional leader; instead, a transformational leader who impacted those around him. He will stay with us for eternity through his iconic performance over his decades yet illustrious career.

Mr. George F. Gomez, that gentle human candle has blown off! This man, his mastery of weaving words, his golden eloquence and effectiveness in delivery, altogether define him and highlight his artistry’s rarity.

Like legends, before he leaves footprints, posterity has an eternal place for his name. George was industrious, brilliant, selfless, and kind, and such was the man. Now death rests on his human flesh, like taciturn mist at dawn.

Death, George has given up and thrown his mortal hands to divinely cares. Saunter yonder, good George  F.Gomez, to the sandy, pebbled shores of eternity.

We give thanks for his life, values, and inimitable character, which will remain etched on the sands of time.

Such breed comes not easy. Loyal to his talent and explored it with a comet’s brightness in the sky, George Gomez was known to every household. For his talent, fame came to him with ease, and he sustained it with a potter’s simplicity. As he did while alive, his memory remains with us hereafter.

While he lived amid us, he distinguished himself as a guiding star for sportsmanship, peace, and cohesion beyond the Gambia’s borders. George F. Gomez was a conscientious and dependable leader, the true North of public service.

Now he rests with the angels, to the chronicles of better men he will be respectfully remembered as he now belongs to the annals of our time.

I extend my condolences to the people of the Gambia as we mourn a worthy ambassador and a worthy citizen. Sorrow comes to all, only at varying times.

The death of George. F Gomez is tragic news, indeed. The entire nation is mourning in grief: an admiring and grateful nation mourns Mr. George  F. Gomez. George F. Gomez also deserves a blissful eternity.

Furthermore, he has that already. May his soul rest in peace. My condolences to his family and the entire Gambia and his loved ones. RIP.
