Mama Kandeh, the leader of Gambia Democratic Congress, has shrugged off the mass defection in his party.
The party has been recently hit by mass defections including two high profile members of the National Assembly to President Adama Barrow’s National People’s Party.
But Mr Kandeh said it was not a big deal as “it’s their rights to go to other political parties”.
“The party is in the hands of the supporters and those supporters are increasing every day. We have 100s of people coming to join the GDC every day,” Mr Kandeh said.
He warned other political parties receiving the defectors to “be careful of them because those were the people who were making sweet words about their old political parties and had now decided to paint a bad image of that party”.
Mr Kandeh added: “ I don’t want to talk about people [that] defected from the party to other political parties because at least I had a good relation with them at one time.”
