Minister of Health Dr Ahmadou Lamin Samateh has strongly warned women about the health implications of using tobacco in their private parts.
Concerns have been raised about the increasing number of women and girls who are using tobacco in their private parts to heighten sexual pleasure with their partners.
The minister and other health officials have strongly warned against such practices due to the health problems it can caused including death.
“I did not know about tobacco until recently. Someone came to my house and said she has some people who used tobacco and worms were coming from their bodies. I want you to warn people against tobacco. Tobacco is dangerous,” Dr Samateh said.
He added: “The reason why some use it in [their private parts] is that they enjoy it. But it stains the place and makes it tight.
“So, the place [private parts] gets stained, it tears when the person is giving birth and blood will start to come out which is different from the original birth blood. This is what tobacco causes.”
