Former ruling party, APRC, has confirmed forming an alliance with President Adama Barrow’s National People’s Party for the upcoming December 4 presidential election.

Speaking at a news conference at Penchami hall, Fabakary Tombong Jatta said: “We have already concluded alliance talks with one political party that’s the NPP.”

“The coalition is not about NPP or APRC but the Gambia. That was why the committee was able to reach an agreement,” he added.

The announcement comes as APRC is divided over forming alliance with the National People’s Party, as splinter group of the party believes this will kill APRC.

However, Mr Jatta continued:”Power belongs to our people that is why we engaged them through a nationwide tour.

“After the review with the verse majority of our members, we decided to notify our partner that we agreed as a party and we should now do a signing ceremony.”

He said they acted in the supreme interest of the Gambian people.
