President Adama Barrow has accused the leading opposition United Democratic Party of spreading “false information” about his government on social media.

Barrow launched the attack on Thursday night at a rally in Buffer Zone as he kickstarted his presidential campaign.

“Today I am so happy because Gambians don’t lie about people. But there are people who use strategies to go on social media to lie and say nasty words and spread false information stories which you will not see anyone in NPP who does that,” the president said.

“But is only one party which is the yellow camp. They are going to Guinea Conakry for shopping…to take pictures in Guinea Conakry and Uganda,” he added

Barrow, who is seeking second term in office, said he will end the political career of his former godfather and arch rival lawyer Ousainou Darboe at next month’s presidential election.
