The European Union has dispatched 16 of its election observers across the country to help analyse and assist the electoral process.

The Gambian electorate will head to the polls on December 4 to elect their new president to lead the country untill 2026.

Meanwhile, EU’s election chief observer to The Gambia , Norbert Neuser told reporters his team came through the invitation of the Independent Electoral Commission.

“We will observe the pre- election phase as well as the voting , counting and tabulation process while noting that the EU EOM will provided a comprehensive assessment of the entire electoral process and provide recommendations for future elections,” he said.

Neuser promised that his team will not meddle in the country’s election but that they will only stick to their mandate.

“We will stick strictly to our mandate of non- interference and  neutrality. Our mission here is constitute impartial and objective assessment,” he added.
