Opposition leader Ousainou Darboe has fired back at President Adama Barrow for accusing him of being behind the banned anti-government movement Three Years Jotna.
President Barrow earlier accused Darboe of being the “Three Years Jotna’s chief executive officer” and had used the movement to mount a civil insurrection.
“But when I throw teargas on them and to this day… You know I told my security leaders that it takes a fight to end a quarrel. From that day to now, Three Years Jotna died in this country as if it never existed,” Barrow told a rally last week.
In his respond Darboe said: “You [President Barrow] said I am the CEO of ‘3 Years Jotna’, Adama you know between you and God that in cabinet when OJ said when the time for the 3 years [Coalition agreement] came [Barrow] government should leave power if the government did not leave power he will resign.
“A president should not come and say things that are not true and a president should not say a thing which if you judge you would realise it as falsehood.”
“When Halifa said in 3 years Adama Barrow should leave power I told him leave me with them let me show them what the law said, it’s today that you’re saying ‘I’m their CEO’, even if I am their CEO why don’t you charge and take me to court?” he added.
Meanwhile, Darboe said that his United Democratic Party (UDP) is not interested in crowd competition saying they are into competition of ideas and programmes.
