Independent presidential candidate Essa Faal has advised Gambians to refrain from selling their voter cards to politicians.
Speaking at a rally in Kuntaur, the former lead counsel of TRRC, described buying voter cards as an “attack on democracy” saying the illegal action destroys a country’s progress.
“Do not allow yourself to be fooled if they give you D500 and take your voter card it is as if you have sold your life for five years,” he said.
“Within 5 years you would not be able to voice out your pain anywhere and it is clear that what is given to you in exchange of your vote they will take it from you because your money is in the government and you leave it with them so they will take it and spend it anywhere,” Faal added.
Meanwhile, he lashed out at the Barrow administration saying the government woefully failed the country in taking it to the Promised Land.
“I never see a hospital without doctors. I see that only in Kuntaur why will they establish hospitals and make you believe that you have a hospital whilst it does not have doctors.
“That is just a joke. A village like Kuntaur and its importance in the Gambia, there is no doctor in the hospital so this is very sad,” he said.
“Kuntaur people should show themselves in this election and vote for us because we are the people that care for you.
“If you vote for us, Kuntaur will harvest rice so that Gambia can start eating the rice we grow but we have to inform you that we going to bring up agriculture in the Gambia and put it in place, we know that a country that cannot feed itself cannot go further and Kuntaur should be in a position of feeding itself and feed the Gambia,” Faal added.
