Essa Faal, an independent presidential candidate, has blasted President Adama Barrow and his government for using the OIC project to get votes.

Faal told a rally in Galoya that the project was being used to fool Gambians that the government was bringing them infrastructure development.

“They wait until two weeks before elections they bring in machines saying they are doing the clearing. The fake is too much, something that was given to you four years ago you seat and delay in the past four years yet you cannot even do groundbreaking,” he said.

“Nothing has happened, this means it has a fundamental problem either they don’t know how to do it or they cannot work.”

Faal added: “The [OIC] project had caused lots of hardship for people and for four years it has affected those going to school, those going to work and disrupted businesses. All these was done just for the construction of one road,” Faal told a rally in Galoya.

“If they know what to do, they would have done with the construction of those roads because money was not an issue.

“What OIC have given us since the time of Yahya Jammeh still we cannot do it perhaps it will be given to other countries for them to do it,” he said.

“The road construction that they are chanting about in Banjul should be constructed during the dry season because if they construct it during the rainy season it will flood the city because of the lack of drainage.”

Meanwhile, he urged the people of Galoya to vote for him saying he will bring better  living conditions for the people of Galoya., adding that Galoya is not far from the airport but the village lacks water, electricity and good roads.

“If you want your country to go further if you want your community to be like other communities you should come to people who remember you, come to us, and vote for us,” Faal said.
