Drug Law Enforcement Officers (DLEAG) have arrested four people suspected of drugs offences in the Greater Banjul Area and Lower River Region.
DLEAG said its Bakau field office arrested one Omar Bangura and Ablie Njie alias Papa lie for possession of suspected prohibited drugs.
They were apprehended on 29 December 2021 around 06:36 AM onwards at Bakau with four bundles of suspected cannabis.
A 20-year-old student was also arrested by DLEAG’s Kanifing field office at Kololi with 24 small stones of hashish and 12 wraps of suspected cannabis sativa.
In the West Coast Region, Musa Camara of Tabokoto was apprehended by DLEAG’s Brikama field office with three parcels and 152 wraps of suspected cannabis sativa.
He was nabbed on 29 December 2021 around 14:45 GMT onwards at Brikama Darsilameh.
In the Lower River Region, 19-year-old Gambian national and a resident of Jappineh was clutched with 41 wraps and a smoking joint of suspected cannabis sativa.
“The suspects are in custody as operatives’ further probe in their matters,” Drug Law Enforcement Agency said.
Meanwhile, it added: “DLEAG’s Brusubi and Brikama field offices took into custody three persons for being in possession of a prohibited drug.
“One of the suspects being a 19 years old Gambian was apprehended by Brusubi field office on the 24 December 2021 around 08:56 hours GMT onwards with one parcel and three wraps of suspected cannabis.
“Lamin Sambou, a 44 years old Gambian and a resident of Pirang was arrested at Gunjur beach side with eleven wraps of suspected cannabis sativa and thirty-three wraps of cannabis resin (hashish).
“He was arrested on the 24 December 2021 around 08:00 hours GMT onwards. Bakary Kinteh, a Gambian and a resident of Gunjur was also arrested on the 24 December 2021 around 08:00 hours GMT onwards one bundle and 14 parcels of suspected cannabis sativa.
