Police today intervened to enforce an injunction on disputed land between Busura village and Talokoto village.
The two neighbouring Kombo settlements have been disputing a land area used for agricultural farming since 2015.
Villagers threatened violence if the dispute was not resolved sooner.
But a law enforcement team led by police commissioner for West Coast Region Pateh Jallow took a tour of the disputed area and engaged both village heads.
They called for calm as the authourities seek a settlement of the dispute.
Commissioner Jallow and team also asked both sides to stop ongoing activities at the disputed areas of the land pending the government settlement.
Speaking to reporters shortly after the tour, Pateh Jallow said: “I am only here for fact finding or a site visit of the two opposite sides.
“Busura villagers are claiming those side and these other people (Talokoto) are claiming this other side. So therefore, I feel it is very important enough for me to come here and verify the [area] where these people are contesting.
“The places the injunction is on, because (what) all the police can do here is to make sure that the injunction is enforced other than that we cannot do nothing,” he added.
Meanwhile, he referred the media to the police spokesman for details into the land dispute.
