The Gambia’s Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (MoBSE) has said the country will host the African Curriculum Association conference in May.

At least 150 delegates are expected to take part in the three day academic summit in Banjul.

The theme of the conference is “Education, Technology and Curriculum Alignment in the New Era.” 

Speaking during a steering committee meeting ahead of the conference, Basic Education minister Ms Claudiana Ayo Cole

emphasised the conference importance in the sector’s drive towards the attainment of quality education.

She enumerated series of initiatives and programmes undertaken by MoBSE to enhance access to quality education for all learners, adding that she’s challenging the steering committee to organise a very good conference to project the good image of the country.

“A very good curriculum is the lifeblood of a quality education system,” she said.

Meanwhile, the ministry’s permanent secretary Louis Moses said the education sector is going through a serious strategic and administrative reforms notably the ongoing curriculum review.
