Baboucarr Jeng, former mayoral contender, has announced bid to run for the Kanifing Municipal Council mayoral seat under the ruling National People’s Party’s ticket.
According to Mr Jeng, he is the right person within Barrow’s party to unseat mayor Talib Besnouda.
“For that I will not even hesitate and I will not even hide anything, I have interest to run again for KMC mayoral seat,” he said.
“I have given all my issues to NPP and I am running for the office, I will run under NPP’s ticket. That is my expectation because we have joined Barrow during the presidential election.”
Asked if his bid to contest under the NPP is turned down, he replied: “I don’t believe the NPP will make that mistake to reject me because I am the right choice for the NPP.
“I don’t believe if I bid to run for KMC office with anyone within the NPP that I will be rejected because I know their mindset. And if they do that will be their disaster.”
However, he blasted mayor Ahmed Talib Bensouda as “incapable” of running the affairs of Kanifing Municipal Council.
“We have been given the chance for the past five years, but he has shown us that he is incapable of continuing in that office, because he confused the council and the municipality,” he said.
