Thieves have broken into Baja Kunda Financial Service in Manjai Kunda and stole an eye-watering 1.3 million dalasis.
According to Awa Marega, the theft is suspected to have happened in the early hours of Friday morning when it was raining heavily.
Her co-workers found their office door broken by the thieves.
“Our other manager, Ebrima Kebba, who was travelling this morning with his driver, told me that when they were driving and reached the Mosque, Kebba told him to reverse back because the iron that crossed the office was not there.
“So, the driver said when they went back to the office, they found the door was broken,” Ms Marega said.
“The thieves only took the money but left all other materials like the computers. They took from one of the offices 507,000 dalasis and took from the office of my boss an amount of 793,000. So, if you add up everything, it is 1.3 million dalasis,” she added.
Meanwhile, Ms Marega said some people were having their cash with them in the office, adding they also lost the receipts they used to record people’s money.
“We have reported the matter to the police and they said they are doing their investigation and added that we are all suspects.
“So, I want to urge all those working at the bureaus to be mindful and never keep the money in the bureaus, because for us, we aren’t used to keeping money in the bureaus,” she said.
