President Adama Barrow

Musa Ousainou Yali Batchilly, leader of Gambia Action Party, has said anyone who insults President Adama Barrow should be prosecuted .

“I do not go against their freedom  of speech, but no one will be allowed to insult people on social media and other platforms especially insulting the President,” he said.

“Anyone who insults the President (Adama Barrow) will be arrested and taken to Janjabureh for one-year. We don’t come here for insulting each other, we come to work. Even a political party leader who insults the President should be detained. You can criticise and tell truth to the President positively, but why should you insult?” he added.

However, he also questioned the Ministry of Health over the rate of illnesses among Gambians and non-Gambians.

“I want to know what is causing the much disease in the country. I know the honourable minister of health is doing a tremendous [work], but I want to ask the Medical Control Agency, whether they are watching the first class and second class medication.

“You go to the hospital and see young people infected with kidney problem. And the Food Safety and Quality Authourity should also examine what food comes into the country for consumption. Our food control agency should control the food we consume,” he continued.
