Opposition activist Momodou Sabally has condemned the assault on Gambian Youtuber Ebou Bah who is known as Baba Jah after a spat with former TRRC lead counsel Essa Faal.
“If we are in a country governed by laws, no one should get up and attack someone or you call someone to beat up that person because the person insulted you.
“That’s not right and it’s against the law. No one should do that, especially someone who calls himself a lawyer when you are paid millions here to call people and interrogate them. You should not have done it,” Sabally said.
“Yes, what Baba Jah is doing in this country is not right and I condemn it and I am not happy with his actions.
“If someone beats him, I could also do the same, but I will not do it because I know that’s not right. We live in a civilised society, let us tell the truth,” Sabally added.
“I saw people celebrating the beating of Baba Jah, fine, anyone is entitled to your feelings, but what we know is the law should govern our relationship.
“Therefore, what is seen in the video is not right, especially if you call yourself a lawyer and you abide by the law and you want to lead this country.
“If you say Baba’s actions are not right, I will agree, I myself condemn his actions, but is Essa Faal’s actions good?
“Someone among those who called for violence in the post-election was arrested and jailed and our people didn’t compromise the law for him.
“But someone is here who violated the law in the brought daylight but he will not be taken to any police station. The Gambia let us speak the truth,” he continued.
